19th March 2020
It is truly with a very heavy heart that I write this letter to you this morning. You will have seen in the announcement from the Government last night that schools across the UK are forced to close from Monday to all but some of the pupils. Therefore, with effect from 3.20pm on Friday 20th March 2020, St Mary’s RC Primary school will close for most pupils. Schools will remain open for children of “key workers”, pupils with EHCPs and other vulnerable groups. School will remain closed until further notice.
I am awaiting clarity on the situation of “key workers” with a full list due to be published by the Cabinet Office this morning.
At St Mary’s RC Primary we pride ourselves on our school’s sense of community, the love and care we show each other. I would like to thank parents/carers for their kind words, level of support and compassion that has been shown to staff at St Mary’s during this very challenging time.
I would like to thank all staff at St Mary’s for their continued dedication, professionalism, compassion and resilience having the children at St Mary’s at the centre of everything they do.
As soon as I receive any updates I will notify you all. As I said in yesterday’s correspondence packs for those children currently not in school will be hand delivered over the next couple of days.
We will stay in contact with you, share successes of your learning and experiences at home and be ready to support each other every step of the way. Together, with our children we continue (virtually) to “learn with fun, friends, family and faith”.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Sending you our thoughts, prayers and love over this challenging time.
